Boy, oh Boy!!

This is going to become a regular feature, I am going to add at least one short anecdote a week about something funny that the kids might say or do that stands out somehow above all of those other things! Why... Boy oh boy... well if I had a girl I guess I'd come up with something different to call it?

I've got two from today!!

Josh.... In our high school curricuium there is now a component of volunteer hours which must be met in order to graduate. They must have been talking about this at school because Josh started up this conversation...

Josh.. "Can I volunteer at the Movie Theatre?
Me.. "For high school credit, um, no, that is not the idea"
Josh.. "But it would be fun"
Me.. "What kind of service is that doing for others, for your community?"
Josh.. "I could give them their popcorn and snacks"

Note to self.... have further conversation about what constitutes service and what the essence of volunteerism is!!

Aidan... Our walks home from school always yield the best conversations about his thoughts. And underneath that dirty face the wheels are always turning...

Aidan.. "When I am a Police Dad, I will always be selfish with doughnuts."
Me.. "But, what do you think is the most important part of being a Police man?"
Aidan.. "Getting the bad guys."
Me.. "Yeah, and you'll have to have a gun, will you promise me to be safe
with it when you are a Police man?"
Aidan.. "Yep, I will only shoot criminals."
Me.. "Well, you can arrest criminals, you do not have to shoot them."
Aidan.. "I will ask them if they are sorry and if they say yes I will arrest them. If they say no I will have to shoot them."
Me.. "Well, if you are going to be a Police man, you will learn what you need to
do with criminals."
Aidan.. "And I will learn to like coffee too."

It is nice to see how kids envision their futures! What a laugh I get to have being a mom!!

Kids do say the funniest things! As you probably know Laurel, I read your blog everyday, I can't wait to read them! The other day when reading it Aaron saw your pic( with the yellow hoodie) and said "is that a kid Mom?" I of course told him, yes that is a KID it's your auntie Laurel!!
Aaron wants to be a policeman or Firefighter and Areal says she'll be anything but a doctor, because she can't stand blood!hehe
