the joy of a "boy house"

I live in a boy's world, I am one girl surrounded, outnumbered and frantically trying to cling to the girly girl in me.... she has a hard time in this house!! She is like an endangered species, in need of special care and consideration. But there is a certain joy in being surrounded by male counterparts, big, little and furry!! I am challenging myself to name some here on the spot:
... I can play the unknowing or physically lacking female card often as I like(some of you feminists may say, eeew, her but I like her)... I never have to empty the mouse trap, change a light bulb, get the dish from the very top shelf. My boys carry in the groceries, take out the garbage and help me move furniture.
... I know how to play more video games than I could ever want! I can even create my very own wrestler. (This is my favourite part of these games... closest thing I will get to Barbie's) I am not too good at these games, mind you but I know where to buy them, I know what systems they are available on, and I am almost on a first name basis with the young guys at EB games!
... I save a lot of Canadian Tire bucks! Hockey equipment, the odd tool, I would probably never step foot in the store if not for my boys toys. I am saving up a pile of CT money and may get a little something for me eventually.
... Each and every room of the house is home to many an action figure,... it is like an added feeling of security knowing that Spiderman, Hulk, Xmen, Batman, every dude from Star Wars, and more than a hundred Pokemon are living here, close by if I am ever in need of a hero!! They are hiding in laundry piles, under furniture, in pockets, on cabinets... they have got my back!
... If the Action figures fail me.... my boys have also got my back!! At their young age they have shown characteristics of protecting me... trying not to hurt my feelings, or standing up for me when they feel I am threatened... they are attuned to the masculine need to take care of, and see me as someone they want to protect.
... Going back to those action figures for a quick second... of not for these guys, I would never have known who the %$@# all of these characters are, what their powers are etc., 90% of the movies I have seen in theatres are derived from a comic book!!
... I always know when it is Playoff season, or a World Cup of some sport or other is happening... we watch TSN each and every morning before school. This knowledge has won me a few bucks here and there!!
... Cuddles find me, as the nurturer all come forth at one time or another needing a hug, a kiss, a bandaid, a pat on the back, a high five, a figure four leglock... I can do it all! It is me that they look to when they have hurt their knee, or have a sliver or feel in need of a lift.
... I am always the prettiest!! No competition! Aidan loves to remind me that I am the prettiest in our house, um, ya, I hope so, kid!!
... I am seen as the all knowing, as Mother of this brood, they do give me my rightful props most days. When I come through, or have worked hard at something my boys are sure to praise me for it, they are very loving in that way.

Thank heaven for my boys, together with them I have a wonderful life!!!
