ten on Tuesday

Four more days and Colin will be turning one year old!!! Hard to believe, the time just goes by so quickly.... sniffle, sniffle. This week my list is just a few of the things I love so much about babies.....

1. Baby smell.... This is a smell that stays with you... whenever I get a breeze of that soft clean baby smell, I remember like yesterday cradling my delicate little boys... when they were tiny and swaddled. Oh, what smell could be more awesome.

2. Baby chub... Rolls and dimpled skin is the cutest on a wee tot. I have never seen a baby that was too chubby... the cheekier the better!

3. Baby giggles... When you get your first laughter response from your babe it is like a piece of heaven.... I want to do whatever got the laugh again and again just to hear the small coo and giggles... I still do this with Colin.

4. Baby's face... the features change so much in a year. The definition and precision of a little nose or ear... is something to get lost in... I am amazed at the eyes and how these features are like tiny replicas of myself and daddy.

5. Baby clothes... I am a sucker for a sweet outfit. Colin wears my moods... sometimes soft and innocent, other times rough and tumble... I get misty just looking in the bin of his tiny sleepers and hats.

6. Baby eating... It is so very comforting to watch my Colin when he is nursing. The feeling, and the warmth that seems to overcome him. The look of a satisfied babe is too adorable for words.

7. Baby out of bath... I tell Colin when he gets dried off and lotioned up that he smells like a million bucks.... he now seems to expect this to be proclaimed as he gets a good giggle out of this bath ritual.

8. Baby asleep... peaceful and soft. It is times like this when I thank God for blessing my life... looking at the steady breathing and long lashes, wow, I made that!!!

9. Baby dancing... Colin has happy feet. He moves and bounces with delight any time he hears a good tune. Even a commercial is met with glee, it adds sunshine to my days... every day.

10. Baby in my arms. When Colin settles himself into my arms, my lap, a long hug. I am happy, the best kind of happy. I understand what mamma love is when my boys are in my grip.

Motherhood continues to be full of gifts and surprises but as I have learned a couple of times, you will always think right back to the first time you looked into their eyes. Sweet love.

beautiful sentiments... I soaked up each one. They all represent something so precious that only babies could give to our hearts.
