Let it snow!

Is it really me saying this? I am "the not so much" type of fan of winter. I do not like the cold, I do not like the piles of snow that are left once the initial beauty of it has passed. I do not like walking tensely fearing yet another fall on the ice. But how sad is it that we are in January and have yet to see a snowfall that sticks. We have green outside, some days that have not even required a winter coat and new boots sitting in the hall.
I wonder what the winters will be like once Colin is old enough to get out and play. It seems the winters of my youth are long gone. I am old enough to recall the Blizzard of '77. I was six years old and had to be carried home from school. I remember many a snow day over the years. The mornings when you would just hope the radio was gonna say our school was closed. I recall having mittens so wet, a mismatched hat and scarf and staying out a little longer to make a fort or another snow angel. I remember finding hills big enough to slide down and throwing my share of packing snowballs. I feel bad for my kids for it seems the season will never be the same as it was.
The Mom in me is glad to not have to contend with shovelling and pushing the buggy in the snow but the kid in me is wishing for a chance to throw a snowball at my boy!!
