I am surfing around the usual sites while nursing Colin. Wow, I have gotten good at multitasking! I was about to sign off for the night as he is now sound asleep in my arms (which means about 5 pounds heavier). But then I looked at him.... and thought to add just one more thing.
There is nothing more beautiful than a sleepin babe in a Mama's arms. So soft and peaceful, their whole world is wrapped up in you. Having you close by for the sound of your heart beating, their lasting hugs, the way they love with every ounce of themselves. I love times like this, and on these every day simple occasions I mentally take snapshots to tuck away just for my memories.
Already nine months old, and cheeks red with his teething, a little scratch on his cheek, his sweet breaths, curly earlobes and lashes, oh the long eyelashes that lay half way down his cheeks! I never want to forget what he looks like and smells like right now. Today was a wonderful Mommy day. Colin and I had a warm bath this morning, we danced to Backyardigans, I shared my soup with him, we sang silly songs, we cuddled and played "Nose, Eyes, Mouth..." (which reminds me of my Mom). We had a great Monday!
Last night on our walk to the grocery store a woman at the checkout made the comment "Why do little boys always get the longest lashes? It just does not seem fair somehow!"
Motherhood is grand,.... and with that I must say... Happy birthday to my Mom!!
