Wish me luck! Tonight I take two boys out to buy one his suit and both of them dress shoes. Yuck! Should be fun.... with weddings and Josh's graduation around the corner, I must bite the bullet.
Gone are the days when a boy owns a suit for all occasions such as the family photo and church! I can remember my brothers having a couple of suits in their youth. They were green checked and light blue, oh and there was also a brown one but they were suits, lol. These days boys do not really get that gussied up very often. When we go to church, a button down shirt and khakis are sufficient.
Two years ago, the boys wore tuxedoes in their Auntie Carrie's wedding... they looked like a million bucks!! Aidan was little enough to have loved it, but Josh was a different story! He wore it for his Auntie.
Josh graduates Grade 8 next month. And since we have two weddings this spring as well, we figured he should get some wear out of the suit he will probably not fit in another year!
But to see the issue, one must understand something about my children!! My boys are not mere boys.... they are boys through and through. They are dirty 10 minutes after they have a bath. They never have clean finger nails. They usually have mud all over their pants and cedar chips in their hair. They are ring around the bathtub kids. I have pulled out more slivers, stitched more knees, and lost the battle to stains more times than I care to remember. They get chased upstairs to wash their necks, scrub their hands, brush their hair or change their socks on a regular basis. And whew, thank God for them, I love their boyness!!!! It is so different to me, I do not understand it, it is loveable! It is always something new to this girl to see how a boy approaches the world!
So tonight, when I fight with kids who are feeling awkward and uncomfortable I vow to remember this.... it is much like me taking them out of their boy skin. I will practice patience.... and try not to oooh and aaaah too much! I will keep to myself that I think they look "handsome" and just get the job done! I will try not to fuss. Lol, but dammit, inside I will be goin proud mama crazy!!! Me loves me some beautiful boyz!!!!

I can appreciate where your boys are coming from, wasn't the brown suit mine!!! Anyway, they love their Mom and as uncomfortable as they may be they will know how handsome you think they are in it! Okay, the first time someone other than his Mom says he's handsome in his suit THEN Josh will be fine!! The teenage years eh! I can't wait to see everyone in the Fam all decked out again! We all always look so good! Hehehe! K
Auntie LOVES to see her beautiful boyz too.
