And the award for best Actor in a drama role goes to...

Aidan, the middle child!!!!!!

I went out last night for a much needed shopping excursion with my sister. We seldom get away entirely free from our children, and while we love them all so very much, we had a little extra bounce in our step on our way out the door!

I was away from the house for about 6 hours in total. It is so wonderful that Mike is absolutely cool with me going out on my own whenever I want or need. As a busy mom we all deserve these breaks. Frankly, I do not have any problem shopping with kids but they slow us down massively and are usually complaining by the second store!

When I returned home, it was past bed time for Aidan. And he was up in bed..... but as soon as I walked in the house I could hear him screaming at the top of his lungs. His cries resembled those of agony more than anything. The unfortunate part is that I was not alarmed. I asked Daddy what he was crying about up there THIS time and half anticipated what the answer would be..... he was beside himself for having to go to bed when I was not home yet, he wanted to wait for me to get a good night kiss. Well, I am proud of Mike because he gave a little leeway with bed time to see if I would return but when it was 20 minutes past, he insisted that Aidan just go up to his bed to wait for me. My son, who by the way is not 2... he is 6, cried from that point on until I called him down.

You gotta love your children when they work so hard at manipulation and you can still see right through it, lol. And I love this little boy to bits. He is so very dramatic and I do come to expect things like this from him.... this is not the first time he has pulled this routine. Well, I called him down stairs, and sat on the step, telling him why he needed to be getting to sleep. I hugged him a big squishing hug and listened when he told me how mean his father was for making him go to bed. I kissed his nose and told him that he was so lucky to have a Daddy that takes such good care of him when Mommy has girl things to do.... and told him I could not wait to read with him tomorrow after school. He was asleep in under five minutes!!

I will have to remember times like this, for they will surely pass. I wonder what his future girlfriends will think of the stories of this Mama's boy.....

Aidan may look like Aaron but he sounds just like his cousin Areal, in the dramatics department at least! Areal apparently has a stomach ache and needs an extra drink of milk after going to bed?? hello I thought you were sick! Oh and her legs are always hurting, she's hot, cold, there's a fly in her room,Aaron's talking to her,or the blankets have fallen off of the bed! Aaron of course just plays into it all and follows her down each and every time!I hear you Laurel!
