I am in excavation mode. It is beyond imperative! Some of the toys have got to go!
We have 3 boys in two bedrooms with closets overflowing with toys. Colin does not even have his toys upstairs. He has bins on the main floor with all his wares.
Let's see.... we have action figures where no action figure has ever gone before. I wade through the pile to sort.... keep, switch rooms, garbage, get rid of but not garbage.
Lego, Game pieces, old video games, books, broken crayons, grade 6 school work, the odd sock... so that is what lives in the bottom of a kid's closet. I do not often get the time to really sort and pitch... but the time has come!
It all started when I acquired a pack rat son. Josh took relatively good care of his toys and so it was not necessary to throw things out very often. Then a new brother meant that we should save the "good stuff". So Thomas the Tank Engine, Star Wars, and everything Fisher Price was tucked away.... it just never remained "tucked". Add in a dozen Christmases, gifts from a very big family and much loved collections of poseable superheroes, wrestlers, hockey players and at least a hundred pokemon and we are most literally in Toyland.
As we have done in years past, we start pulling out things.... broken means garbage, unknown pieces of whatever means garbage, and that old school work definitely means garbage, lol.
Motherhood has a way of toughening one's heart in a way! I have learned that there are a precious few toys that are keepers. In pursuit of minimal living.... she walks back upstairs!!!!
