Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.~ Dr. Seuss... a very wise dude

The Hunger Strike.
I am throwing my arms up in the air... totally out of the realm of my parental experience... wondering what to do to convince Colin to eat!!??! It started with a flu bug. More than once these past few months Colin ended up sick... typical when a little one starts school.. his exposure to the big world means new germs and icky bugs that he has not become immune to yet. I get that. I do not really get too out of sorts when he is sick either. We know the drill. But in the past few weeks I could count on my hands how many meals the boy has actually eaten. He has not been sick the entire time... but it is like war to try and negotiate some kind of substantial food intake. He will drink.... his milk, juice or even a yop. He may have an applesauce... or a yogurt or the occasional granola bar. One day last week he ate 2 pieces of pizza. Daddy managed to get him to eat a hot dog at the flea market yesterday. That was epic! But that is about it. I have cupboards stocked with his favourites and he refuses to eat... passes on breakfast (even when I offer to put banana in his cereal)... is hit and miss with his school snack... may eat lunch... and supper is usually dumped into the green bin. I have heard how some kids go through this stage... but in my house... that has just never happened. Both of the other boys had their picky stages... but could be counted on to eat most meals. I try not to focus on it and not force him to eat... knowing he will return when he is hungry... I tell myself it is a phase... but my little babe is now losing weight. I am not okay with this. I do not want to be the over-reacting parent who calls the doctor over something "trivial" but how much do I overlook??? Send Mommy vibes my way... I need all the help I can get!!
